When Egypt people say »Marhaba«, they mean »Welcome to Egypt«. The state religion is the Islam, which approx. 94 % of the population confess to. Around 6% belong to the coptic christendom. An essential institution of Egypt are the the small coffee restaurants. There you can find men, who are drinking tea with mint and sweet arabian tea or smoking a water pipe with apple taste. |

But the most famost idiosyncrasy of all Egypts, called the egypt IBM, must be learned by the the traveller before the arrival. The initials stand for "insha'allah" (god willing), "bukra" (tomorrow) and "malesh" (it doesn´t matter, sorry!). "Insha'allah" means, that everything can go wrong, if God has not agreed. The other way around, the reason for all failures lay not in human hands, but out of humans exertion of influence. "Bukra" is a distensible word, which can also be eternity: maybe tomorrow, the day after tomorrow or also later. "Malesh" accords to the egypt mind, to keep cool, because nobody can change something . Perhaps it works, insha'allah, bukra.
Because everything is, "mish
mushkella", |
