The Sin@i

[ back ]

The Sinai peninsula belongs to Egypt since 1982. The hole Sinai has a width of 200 km and an area of approximately 50.000 square km.

The scant Sinai mountains range near the coast. In the west and east, the Sinai is closed from the Red Sea. In the north, the area is restricted by the deserts of Jordan, Israel and Saudi Arabia.

The southern Sinai consist of primary rocks (granite...) and is presented as an impression, dramatical  countryside, which goes on under water.

The biggest settlements on the west coast of the Gulf of Aqaba are Eilat in the north, Nuweiba, Dahab and  Sharm el Sheik in the south.

The Sinai has also very bizarre rock formations.
