Lighthouse The
old light house can hardly been seen inbetween the houses and huts at
the northernd end of Dahab’s bay. The entry of the dive spot is
directly in front of the restaurant Lazy Days. The slowly descending
sandy ground is often used for beginner classes. At windy weather one
has to count with surfers as well. The northern reef wall initially
seems to be relatively bald. |
|
The
little coral block at 8m depth is circled by a group of lion fishes. With
sporadic terraces and some big coral blocks the reef drops off to a
depth of 40m. Between the first coral block at 14m and the reef wall lies an approx. 8m wide canyon. At its botton often a crocodile fish can be found. |

In
north direction the seciding reef edge gets more and more shallow. Just
in front of a little sandy bay, which reaches up to the beach, a
mural-like rock formation drops down into the open sea. Often one can
meet a turtle here. Due to the little drive time and the diversified wild life the light house is a frequently used spot for night dives. |
|
Another
possibility is a drift dive from the Eel Garden to the Lighthouse. The Eel Garden is about 700 to 800m northwards of the Lighthouse. For this distance we need about 45-60 minutes. Yet seen: turtle, lion fishes, corcodile fish, a lot of swarm fishes (snapper), murays, stone fish. |
