Ras Abu Galum

This national park is situated in the north of Dahab and can be reached by Camel only. The Bedouin camp is of the same name, the camel ride takes about 1,5 hours one-way.   Accordingly, this dive spot is untouched and miles from anywhere. It is subdivided into Ras Abu Galum and Abu Galum South with comfortable entries right from the beach.

Besides: The turtle – sometimes two as well – can be met regularly.

Our Camel Safaris are a very special experience. We drive you and all your equipment by jeep or pick-up to the starting point at the Blue Hole where the camel caravan will be waiting for you.

Along the steep rocky coast we ride northwards. The complete catering is done by Bedouins.

You will get rich meals and always freshly prepared, delicious Bedouin tea.

Usually 2 or 3 dives can be done. In the evening, when we get back to our starting point, it will be almost dark.

The shallow sandy subsoil of this diving spot quickly falls away into depths below 35 meters. The drop-off at the left side of Ras Abu Galum has a very beautiful vegetation. Yet, one even can find black corals.

The way back to the dive’s exit leads over the reef top in a depth of 3-5m.

Abu Galum South, right side, has a wall as well. This one is cut by some spectacular reef crevices. The variety of fishes at these dive spots is impressing. This dive used to be an easy drift dive and has its exit in a little bay.

Yet seen:  turtles, lots of big schools of fishes (snappers), barracudas, murays, stone fishes  - and once a mantas ray.
